Lucknow: The tax department (IT) tax conducted searches Wednesday at the facilities of three NIC officers in five cities as part of their investigation against them in tax evasion cases.
The three officers include special secretary Satyendra Kumar Singh, former deputy magistrate of Firozabad and Ghaziabad before, additional CEO Vimal Kumar Sharma and former deputy magistrate of the Meerut district Friday Shankar Tiwari, currently Director of the department of health. In addition, local RTO were also sought (Meerut) Mamta Sharma. The wife of Mamta Sharma Vimal Kumar Sharma.
A joint research team at Lucknow and New Delhi’s I-T has requested a total of six local Satyendra Kumar Singh in Lucknow and Noida. Singh was the controversial vice president of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), which oversees all key projects under the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) regime.
The Akhilesh government flagship project – Jain Prakash Narain International Center (JPNIC) – in which the current exemption has ordered a probe due to a huge increase in costs and other financial issues, also appeared under SK Singh LDA. It was named LDA V-C twice the previous government. Singh would have a role in the controversial issue of land-use conversion under which SP residential properties of high-level leaders, including Shivpal Yadav and parents Aparna Yadav, become commercial, adjusting the rules. However, under the current government, the LDA board canceled all land-use conversions.
Similarly, carrying out eight orders of I-T against agent of the Friday NIC Shankar Tiwari, the teams conducting investigations at its premises in five cities, including Meerut, Baghpat, Greater Noida, Lucknow and Delhi.
By Vimal Kumar Sharma and his wife Mamta Sharma, the I-T team carried out investigations at its facilities in three cities, including Meerut, Noida and Mainpuri, in the execution of eight orders against the pair.
Details of the investigation would be shared late in the day, authorities said.
