Column Mayweather vs. McGregor might be an easy sell, but with an all-too-predictable outcome

It is said that in a democracy, people get the government they deserve. I do not know if that’s true, but I know that: fans get the fights they deserve.

This brings us on Tuesday afternoon and the sleep scene at the Staples Center where nearly 10 800 viewers watched Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor swap vulgarities to promote their disaggregation on August 26.

Fans do not have to be convinced. They have already been sold. They scolded as McGregor entered the arena and headed for the stage. They booed when Mayweather did the same.

Maybe they were not sure of a McGregor victory, but they looked and seemed to believe that the charismatic Irishman has a shot. Or maybe they wanted to believe that he had the opportunity.

Whatever the emotion wandering in his heart, he was strong enough to make it work to support his man at a press conference. Similar benefits are expected later this week with stops in Toronto, New York and London.

The predictability of the outcome, coupled with high financial risks, made the Tuesday limit limit, which, in case you do not understand, is that Mayweather will win easily.

Mayweather is relentless, but he had to show an uncommon humility to believe that McGregor will be a piƱata.

When asked if he was surprised by the number of people who think McGregor can beat Mayweather he replied: “He has a chance Whenever two warriors involved, anything can happen ..”

But as a boxing champion for a long time, is not it offended to see it ranked as a 7-1 favorite in sports betting in Las Vegas? “He’s young,” Mayweather said. “He’s 20, I’m in my forties, he’s active, I’m not running, I’m surprised he’s not much closer.”

Stephen Espinoza, General Director of Showtime Sports, defended the pay-per-view issue price, urging that the trial be delayed until secondary fights were unveiled.

It was not the biggest plant. But I could not blame Espinoza, I consider myself intelligent and friendly. What had to be said otherwise? The price was set at $ 99.95, because people are going to pay $ 99.95.

The case “fully made to come” was also made by Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of the Mayweather promoter company. “I saw Floyd in a fight where he fractured both hands,” Ellerbe said.

I offered the opinion that if the main road from a fighter to victory is to make his opponent’s rests both hands, his chances were not very good. The long-range center crowd is treated with jabs – and some hay fires – by Mayweather, McGregor

“This guy is going to win,” Ellerbe said. “Sometimes there’s inside your heart, it’s enough for you.” Arturo Gatti had as much heart as anyone who fought, and Mayweather blew it.

When McGregor spoke, it was not difficult to understand why so many people fell under his spell. This is a combat version of LaVar Ball, saying barbarities with a little glint in the eyes that makes the listeners sure if serious or a joke.

Speaking in the press room after the release of the press conference, McGregor focused on Mayweather’s age, saying he could not distinguish the lifelong champion from his father, Floyd Sr.
